Rosie Brown, the founder and coach of Lone Star Vaulters, can be found doing one of many horsey activities at any given time. She grew up in Santa Cruz, California and moved to Austin, Texas in the fall of 2004. She has been riding since 1986 and was introduced to the vaulting world in 1988. She has vaulted with some of the top US coaches and vaulters from around the country. She has won National team titles and has coached vaulters who have claimed both Regional and National champion titles. She has been showing in the hunter ring since 1993. Melanie Schaubhut (pronounced shoe-butt) is the owner of our clubs horses and September Song Stables where we practice and hold clinics in the Austin area. We are located just south of Austin in Manchaca (pronounced man shack). She is also mother to Alex. Melanie grew up in the Plano area near the famous facility where the TV show Dallas was filmed. She has been a horse woman all her life, but never pursued any formal training until now. We have coaxed her into an English saddle and she is taking to it like a duck to water. Most recently she has put together a group of 6 adults (most over 40) who vault with her to improve their riding, and just plain have fun. They are our platinum team. She is also our longer and self appointed trainer to the horses. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm Mel!
Julie Stanley is our fitness coach. With her background in dance and cheer, she instills a good worth ethic in the team. The team practices twice a week, and one of those days is conditioning with Julie. She is also mother to our youngest member, Gibson, and is a team member as well. She is one of our best bases. Jim Kannen, founder of Man Behind the Curtain Productions, can be seen on both sides of the camera. He is often caught taking pictures while someone else is taking pictures in his direction. He provides us with marketing materials of every sort from stills to video, to scrap books, edited music, customized CD's and DVD's to car and trailer decals and all of our media library materials. Jim is also father to Krista. Thank you for all that you do for us Jim!
