Poncho

Poncho is the black little horse you see in most of the photos.  He has been with us since the beginning.  He was given to Melanie in 2005 and we believe him to be a Morgan or a mix born in about 1999.  He is 15hh and has a bit of an attitude.  But with that comes personality, and forgiveness.  We are very lucky to have him, though he can be a stinker.

Rosie started riding Poncho back in the beginning of November 2008 after having over a year and a half off.  With amazement her back held up (thanx to the dressage saddle - first time for everything!) and Poncho's fat-wide-self.  Riding in the clinic with Jeff in the November 2008 clinic was a goal she set, and had a wonderful lesson.  Poncho has done a lot in his short life, and is not agile enough to do much in the way of technical movements, but is a fun ride.

Vegas

Vegas is the baby of the bunch.  Mel picked him out at a Mustang auction in 2005 at 6 months old.  Yes he is a certified BLM Mustang!  He has always been a big puppy dog and had absolutely no interest in working, NONE.  So after Mel get Poncho and Teddy going for vaulting, she recognized how the work on the line promoted a correct way of going for the horses.  So she decided to get Vegas going on the line as well.  And since he didn't mind people crawling all over him, she decided he should be a vaulting horse too.  He is coming along wonderfully and is the most balanced and free mover of the whole bunch.  Though about 16hh, he is quite narrow so wont be big enough to support more than trot, or small copper and bronze vaulters.  But he has great gaits!

Below are a few pictures of Vegas from his debut at the Sunshine Kids demo on June 13th.  He performed at the walk, trot and canter without being distracted by the new surroundings.

Cody

Cody is a 6 year old 17.2hh Belgian Draft horse owned by Kate of Jonestown, TX.  She has been working with him for years on both dressage and riding.   The vaulters are very fortunate to be able to take Cody on lease in August of 2009 as the new canter horse.  Thank you Kate!
